A good fake chat is a tiny comedy sketch: two characters, a setup and a punchline, all in bubbles. Here are ideas that work, how to make them in under a minute, and the rules that keep them funny instead of hurtful.

Where a prank stops being a joke

Fake chats are funny when everybody is in on it, and harmful when they aren't. Avoid:

Putting words in the mouth of a real, identifiable person who hasn't agreed to it.
Anything that could embarrass someone, start a fight or end a relationship.
Using a fake screenshot as "proof" of anything. Faking evidence can be illegal.
Impersonating a bank, a delivery company or anyone else to trick people.
