How the prank works

Enter a target. A friend's name, "the school Wi-Fi", "Dad's phone", anything up to 40 characters.
Pick a scenario. Each one has its own sequence of steps, from bypassing firewalls to redirecting a satellite camera.
Press Start, then Fullscreen. The browser bar disappears and it looks like a real terminal.
Type anything. Every few key presses a new step completes with a percentage. Type faster for a more dramatic hack.
Reach 100%. A green ACCESS GRANTED banner names your target.
Press Esc for the reveal. The banner changes to JUST KIDDING so nobody stays worried.

This is a joke for people who will laugh about it afterwards. A few ground rules make sure it stays that way:

Always do the reveal. Do not let someone go on believing their device or account was broken into.
Do not use it to scare, threaten or pressure anyone, or to pretend to be IT staff, a bank or the police.
Skip it at work if your workplace takes security scares seriously. Some do, with good reason.

Each scenario has 12 to 14 steps and a step completes every four key presses, so fast typing finishes in about fifteen seconds.
