Stuck Pixel Fixer

A stuck pixel is often still alive, just jammed on one colour. Rapidly flashing colours over it can wake it up. Drag the box onto the pixel, press start, and leave it running.

Flashing warning: this tool flashes rapidly. Do not use it, or look at it while it runs, if you are sensitive to flashing lights or have photosensitive epilepsy.

Drag the dashed box over the stuck pixel. In full screen, the toolbar hides; press Esc to stop and exit.

How to fix a stuck pixel

  1. Find the stuck pixel first with the dead pixel test, and note where it is.
  2. Drag the box so it covers the pixel. Make the box a little bigger than you think you need.
  3. Press Start flashing, then Fullscreen, and look away.
  4. Leave it for 10 to 20 minutes, then check again. Repeat a few times if it improves but doesn't clear.

If you cannot find the exact spot, tick Flash the whole screen. It works the same way, just across the whole display.

Will it work?

Sometimes. It works best on stuck pixels (a dot that stays red, green, blue or white) and on pixels that only recently went wrong. It rarely helps a dead pixel (a black dot on every colour), because those have usually lost power for good. It cannot damage the screen; it only shows colours, as any video does.

Avoid pressing or rubbing the screen, which is sometimes suggested online. It can damage more pixels and may void the warranty. More options are in how to fix a stuck pixel.

Stuck pixel fixer FAQ

How long should I run the stuck pixel fixer?

Start with 10 to 20 minutes, then check. If the pixel improves but is not fixed, run it again a few times. If nothing changes after an hour in total, it is unlikely to work.

Can a stuck pixel fixer damage my screen?

No. It only displays changing colours, like any video. It cannot harm the panel.

Can it fix a dead pixel?

Rarely. A dead pixel is usually permanently off. Check your warranty or the shop's return window instead.
