Fake Work Screen
A screen that looks like serious work is happening. Pick a code editor that types by itself or a spreadsheet full of moving numbers, go full screen, and walk away. Good for pranks, film props, streams and the occasional coffee break.
- Free
- No download or sign-up
- Runs in your browser
Tip: double-check you pressed Fullscreen. The toolbar and pointer disappear, so it looks like a real app. Esc exits.
Ways to use a fake work screen
- Prank: leave it running on a family member's laptop and watch them wonder who is writing code.
- Film and photo props: an office scene with something believable on the monitor, instead of a blank desktop.
- Streams and videos: a "working" backdrop behind you on camera.
- Keep the screen alive: the page keeps changing, which looks active. To also stop the computer sleeping, pair it with the online mouse jiggler.
Want something more dramatic? The fake hacker screen fills the display with code and matrix rain, and the hacker simulator adds a full dashboard. Ideas for using them are in how to look busy at work.
Fake work screen FAQ
Does the code actually do anything?
No. It is plain text being revealed on the page. Nothing runs, and nothing on your computer changes.
Will it keep my computer from going to sleep?
Not by itself. Screens go to sleep based on keyboard and mouse use, not on what is displayed. Use the mouse jiggler page in another window for that.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes, though it looks most convincing on a laptop or desktop monitor. On narrow screens the file sidebar is hidden.
