Touch Screen Test

Check a touch screen in seconds, right in the browser. Draw with several fingers to test multi-touch, fill a grid to find dead zones, or leave the screen alone to catch ghost touches. Works on phones, tablets and touch-screen laptops.

Tip: use Fullscreen so the browser bars don't cover the edges, which is where dead zones usually hide. Esc exits.

How to test a touch screen

  1. Multi-touch: put one finger down, then add more. "Most at once" shows how many touches the screen tracks. Most phones handle 5 to 10.
  2. Dead zones: switch to Dead zone grid and slide a finger over every square, including the very edges and corners. Any square that stays dark did not register.
  3. Ghost touch: switch to Ghost touch watch, press Start and take your hands away. If touches are counted while nobody touches the screen, it is registering phantom input.
  4. Accuracy: in drawing mode, drag slowly in a straight line. Breaks, jumps or zig-zags in the line point to a weak or damaged digitizer.

Touch screen test FAQ

Does this touch screen test work on iPhone and Android?

Yes. It runs in Safari, Chrome and any modern mobile browser, with nothing to install. It also works on Windows touch laptops and Chromebooks.

How many touch points should my phone support?

Almost every modern phone tracks at least 5 fingers, and many Android phones track 10. iPhones and iPads usually report 5 in a browser.

What is ghost touch?

Ghost touch is when a screen reacts to touches that nobody made: apps open on their own or the keyboard types by itself. It is often caused by moisture, a cheap charger or a damaged screen.

Can a screen protector cause dead zones?

Yes. A thick, bubbled or badly fitted protector can block touches, especially near the edges. Test once with it removed before blaming the screen.
