The Hair on Screen Prank: How to Do It
It's one of the simplest pranks there is: a hair on the screen that will not wipe off, no matter how many times your friend tries. It needs no app and takes thirty seconds to set up.

Why it works
Everyone has had a real hair on a screen, so the brain accepts it instantly. And because a real hair moves when you brush it, our version moves a little too, which convinces people to keep trying.
How to set it up
- Open the hair prank page on their device.
- Pick the hair colour of someone in the household.
- Choose the background that matches what they'd expect to see: white for a document or chat, blue for a desktop.
- Press Fullscreen and hand the device back, or leave it on the desk.
Making it believable
- One hair only. Three hairs look staged.
- Phones: lock rotation and turn the brightness down a touch.
- Laptops: a white background with the hair near a corner looks like it landed on the glass.
- Say nothing. Let them discover it.
When to reveal it
As soon as they reach for a cleaning spray or a damp cloth. The joke is the wiping, not a wet screen. Press Esc or close the tab and the hair is gone.
Want something bigger? Try the broken screen, or send a prank link that plays on their own phone.
FAQ
Is there a hair on screen prank app?
You don't need one. The prank runs in the browser on any phone, tablet or computer.
Does it work on iPhone?
Yes. Open the page in Safari. Scroll slightly to hide the browser bars, or add the page to the home screen for a cleaner full-screen view.
Can the hair look like it's on a real app?
The background is a plain colour or desktop gradient, so it works best when the person expects a blank or simple screen.
